IS THYROID CANCER?
The role of the thyroid gland in front of our neck is very important. The hormones produced by the thyroid gland take part in many functions such as converting calories into energy, which in turn regulates body temperature, body energy, body activities, also the pumping of the blood. Thus, if your thyroid gland is not working properly, then it is time to take some action. You will also slowly notice changes in your body mood, energy level etc.
The thyroid cancer is a very rare type of cancer. It affects the thyroid gland. It is rare but people do suffer from it. Thus, it becomes very important to study the symptoms of thyroid cancer that may be a painless lump or swollen neck. Where are the other symptoms after cancer has reached an advanced stage? And at that point the symptoms may include:
- More lump elsewhere on the neck.
- Difficulty in swallowing, which is not at all getting better.
- Hoarseness lasting for more than two weeks.
Following are the types of thyroid cancer:
- Papillary Carcinoma-
This is the most common thyroid cancer. Particularly women under the age of 40 are affected by this type of cancer.
- Follicular Carcinoma-
Mostly individuals above the age bracket of 40 are affected by this type of cancer.
- Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma-
This type of cancer affects the entire family.
- Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma-
This is the rarest yet the most aggressive type of cancer. It affects older people who are above the age bracket of 60.
Many clinics first recommend blood tests through which one can detect the type of thyroid cancer and start the treatment immediately. The thyroid function blood test will find out about the functioning and measure the hormone levels in your blood and other thyroid problems.
Proper guidance by the doctor, healthy diet, the regular physical activity can help to fight any disease.
