WHAT IS DIABETES TYPE 2?
Diabetes is a life-long disease that has no definite cure. It affects the way our body handles the sugar. Most people suffer from the Type 2 diabetes. These are people who do not have normal blood sugar levels. It causes the blood glucose in our body to rise higher than the normal amount. This is also known as hyperglycemia, and Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes that most people suffer from.
Type 2 diabetes is a condition where the body does not use insulin properly, which is also known as insulin resistance. Initially, your pancreas starts producing extra insulin to make up but over the span of time, it cannot continue doing the same to keep your blood glucose levels normal.
It is a progressive condition in a person’s body when it becomes resistant to the normal effects of insulin and gradually produces lower quantities of the same. There is no definite factor that causes diabetes Type 2 but there are risk factors involved. It is strongly related to genetics. It is generally diagnosed when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin for the body and thus, the body fails to work efficiently.
Usually, this type of diabetes is observed in people who are above the age of 45, but in the recent years, it has also started to affect the younger age groups, which include children and young adults. It mostly occurs in the family where there is a history of Type 2 diabetes.
The first signs of diabetes are usually a heart attack, some face vision problems and a few have foot ulcers. It is treated with a combination of regular physical activities, healthy diet and weight reducing techniques. As it is a progressive condition, oral medications are suggested along with insulin injections. In addition to this, a few changes in the living lifestyle are also suggested for coping with the condition.
